Working Environment and Location

This position is based in Mexico City (Santa Fe area) and will require on-site work in a hybrid set up.

Purpose and Scope

The Central Financial Controller role is responsible for reviewing and monitoring the accounts of Affiliates, taking an overview of the quality of reconciliations of the balance sheet and considering flux and trend movements across the trial balance to ensure accounts are robust and well understood pre-consolidation into regional or group accounts. Additionally, the role is responsible for operating the month end close timetable in collaboration with Affiliates, Service Providers and the Corporate Accounting Team

The position also collates required footnote packs from Affiliates, ensuring they are well co-ordinated and standardised, and that their content contributes to a fuller understanding of accounts at a consolidated level

Finally, the role operates our routine control procedures such as the Control Radar or equivalent, relevant J-SOX controls and is a focal point for centralised audit questions

Role and Responsibilities

  • Review and monitoring of Affiliate accounts to Trial Balance level, utilising analysis such as flux or trend reporting to understand key movement in operations, evidencing this for later use in consolidation reports and audits.
  • In partnership with the General Accounting lead, responsibilty for the creation of the month end timetable, liaising with Affiliates, GCC operational teams and the business Process outsourcer to ensure timely delivery of the monthly, quarterly and annual close cycles.
  • Detailed review of aged uncleared items in the balance sheet and liaison with Affiliates and BPO to resolve and clear these items.
  • Balance Sheet sampling to assess reconciliation quality and adherence to policy
  • Overview of Balance Sheet reconciliation compliance to quality and timeliness including cyclical review of automated approvals
  • Operation of central J-SOX controls such as manual journal review, and Control Radar evidencing
  • Monitoring of Key control indicators such as Intercompany imbalances, cost accrual levels and DSO trends for inclusion in Control Radar or similar
  • Central focal point for Internal and External audit, sharing analysis and transactional level information in co-operation with other GCC teams and the BPO
  • Monitoring of statutory Financial Statement completion for all Affiliates, creating timetables for completion and updating compliance to the timetable in partnership with external auditors.
  • Continuous development of efficiency and compliance improvement, contributing to and supporting transformation projects as required

Essential Qualifications

  • Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • ACA / or ACCA / or CPA and / or equivalent accounting qualification or experience
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in accounting and bookkeeping
  • Proven experience in responding to audits and working with external auditors and tax authorities
  • Prior experience in a multinational environment and matrix organization preferred
  • Familiarity with Shared Service or Global Capability Centre collaboration models
  • Strong knowledge accounting process and review methodologies
  • Solid understanding of internal controls, J-SOX/SOX frameworks, and financial governance
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (such as SAP) and BPC
  • Strong Excel experience is essential
  • Fluent in written and spoken business English and Spanish
