Working Environment and Location

• This position is onsite in or Tralee, Ireland.

Purpose and Scope

• This is a student placement position.
• Placement runs from Jan – Aug 27.
• Support the Operations Department under the guidance of experienced technical personnel, contributing to safe, compliant and efficient manufacturing operations.
• Gain practical experience in investigation techniques, root cause analysis, and the development and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
• Assist with activities that support production schedule adherence, operational readiness, and continuous improvement, while developing an understanding of internal procedures and applicable regulatory, legislative, and statutory requirements within a cGMP manufacturing environment. Provide project and technical support to manufacturing initiatives while developing cross-functional collaboration, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Support the Operations Lead and designated mentor in completing agreed work assignments and achieving learning objectives.
• Develop practical knowledge and familiarity with formulation, aseptic filling, and lyophilisation processes.

Role and Responsibilities

• Technical & Operational Support: Support Operations and Engineering with manufacturing activities, control systems, equipment checks, troubleshooting, technology transfer and process introduction.
• Quality, Safety & Compliance: Work in accordance with cGMP, health, safety and environmental requirements, site procedures and data integrity principles, while maintaining accurate records and escalating concerns appropriately.
• Investigations & CAPA: Assist with incident and deviation investigations through data gathering, analysis and documentation, while supporting the tracking and timely completion of CAPAs.
• Projects & Continuous Improvement: Contribute to technical projects, change controls, commissioning, qualification and Lean Six Sigma initiatives focused on process optimisation, waste reduction, energy efficiency and other improvements.
• Data & Documentation: Collect, analyse and present data, and support the preparation and review of SOPs, work instructions, reports, presentations and other technical documentation.
• Learning & Collaboration: Develop knowledge of biopharmaceutical manufacturing, control systems and quality processes while building skills in technical writing, data analysis, problem-solving and stakeholder management through cross-functional teamwork and structured learning.

Essential Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a relevant third-level qualification, preferably in chemical, biochemical, mechanical, manufacturing, process, pharmaceutical or a related engineering or scientific discipline.
