Purpose and Scope

The Health & Safety Graduate supports the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Health & Safety (H&S) programs within the Astellas Tralee manufacturing site. Working under the guidance of the HS team, the graduate assists in promoting a safe, healthy, and compliant workplace by supporting risk assessments, safety inspections, incident investigations, training activities, and regulatory compliance initiatives. The role provides practical experience across manufacturing, laboratories, utilities, warehousing, and office environments, while contributing to the site's commitment to safety excellence, GMP compliance, and a strong culture of employee wellbeing.

Role and Responsibilities

• Support the implementation and continuous improvement of site Health & Safety (H&S) programs, policies, and procedures. Participate in workplace inspections, safety audits, and hazard identification activities, ensuring findings are documented and tracked to closure. 
• Assist with risk assessment for manufacturing, laboratory, engineering, and support operations.
• Support the investigation of incidents, near misses, and safety observations, contributing to root cause analysis and corrective actions. Help maintain H&S records, metrics, and documentation in compliance with regulatory, corporate, and site requirements.
• Assist in the delivery and coordination of H&S training, inductions, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns across the site.
• Monitor compliance with safety procedures, permit-to-work systems, contractor safety requirements, and the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to promote a positive safety culture and encourage proactive reporting of hazards and improvement opportunities.
• Demonstrate personal responsibility for health and safety by adhering to all site EHS requirements, GMP standards, and company values while actively contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
