Working Environment and Location

  • This position is based in Malaysia and will require travel to Singapore

Working Hours

Purpose and Scope

Responsible for leading SINMAL Specialty business with P&L accountability, driving sustainable growth and profitability by;

  • Drive brand performance and customer-facing excellence, ensuring strong execution through Brand Teams
  • Localize and implement annual and mid-term commercial plans, adapting global brand strategies to the Singapore& Malaysia market.
  • Ensure launch readiness and successful commercialization of new and pipeline products
  • Partner closely with Medical Affairs to align on scientific engagement, evidence generation, and stakeholder strategy.
  • Work transversally across functions (Market Access, Medical, Regulatory, Finance, Supply Chain, HR) to deliver integrated execution.
  • Ensure execution of commercial capabilities plan, enhancing digital, data, and omnichannel engagement.
  • Monitor market, policy, and competitive dynamics and proactively adapt strategies.
  • Ensure the highest standards of compliance, ethics, and risk management in all commercial activities.

Role and Responsibilities

Leadership & People Development

  • Lead and develop a high-performing team
  • Set objectives and SMART KPIs  for Brand Leads and Sales Lead, delegate effectively
  • Provide coaching, conduct performance reviews, and support career development
  • Manage succession planning, hiring, and capability building
  • Drive employee engagement initiatives with HR

Strategic Planning & Approval

  • Approve and recommend annual strategic brand plans aligned with global strategy.
  • Set and approve sales and market share objectives with General Manager.
  • Develop programs to achieve objectives and monitor execution.

Sales & Marketing Management

  • Approve sales strategies and ensure alignment with SINMAL Strategic Plan.
  • Oversee planning, forecasting, budgeting, and A&P budget accuracy.
  • Translate marketing strategy into actionable tactics; monitor KPIs and adjust as needed.

Product & Portfolio Management

  • Prepare business cases for pipeline products, lead portfolio assessment and optimization.
  • Ensure launch excellence and readiness for new products in Singapore and Malaysia.

Culture of Innovation and Growth

  • Develop and empower Brand teams to take agile decisions in line with the Brands @ Center approach.
  • Work collaboratively with the Head of Medical to champion the Brands @ Center way of working, and coach the Value Delivery Team to deliver brand KPIs and maximize brand performance.
  • Drive innovative, customer-centric approaches to expand Specialty business.
  • Evaluate alternatives, encourage idea generation, and adapt to market changes.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong external relationships while acting as an ambassador for Astellas
  • Build partnerships with key stakeholders across patient pathway and value chain.
  • Strengthen Key Account Management capabilities of Value Delivery Team to develop long-term partnerships with key strategic accounts.

Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure adherence to ethical guidelines, compliance codes, and company policies.
  • Collaborate with GM on special projects and strategic initiatives.

Essential Qualifications

  • University graduates with major in life science related, engineering or business
  • Experience leading diverse, cross-functional, and high-performing teams, including talent development and succession planning.
  • Proven success in launching innovative therapies.
  • People and team leadership experience
  • Fluent in spoken and written English
  • Outstanding  influencing stakeholders capabilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years pharmaceutical industry experience, including significant commercial leadership roles
  • Experience in Specialty TA
  • Good understanding of healthcare landscape, and decision-makers and influencers in both Malaysia and Singapore
