Purpose and Scope
The Women’s health Medical Affairs Co Lead (MA CL) is accountable for leading the development and execution of the local medical strategy (CMP) and the development of all MA deliverables at the affiliate level, ensuring alignment with overall business goals, leading cross-functional teams, and collaborating closely with internal stakeholders on local as well as global level.
- Understands the local external environment and data gaps.
- Translates insights into strategies and activities.
- Ensure the information needs of key stakeholders are fulfilled to help ensure the safe and appropriate use of Astellas products.
- Ensure all MA deliverables are scientifically / medically valid and bring value to patients.
- Contributes to co-creation of the regional vision and strategy.
- Map, develop, and maintain close relationship with key external/internal stakeholders
- Contribute including the HCP and patient perspectives to the strategical decisions
Role and Responsibilities
- Responsible for maximizing Local Brand performance.
- Co-own the development and implementation of the Growth Strategy and annual plans in close collaboration with Local Brand Team members and other stakeholders.
- Together with the core LBT responsible for developing brand objectives and aligning individual function KPIs for the LBT.
- Manage progress on KPIs and course-correct based on any assumption changes, underperformance, etc.
- Align with Global Brand Strategy planning in co-creation market by being a part of Global Brand Strategy planning.
- Data generation capabilities (design and execution) of clinical studies including sponsored studies, collaborative studies and Real-World Evidence.
- Partner with MA affiliate leaders to ensure execution of affiliate strategic medical plans for the Brand that are aligned with the global Core Medical Plan (CMP) where applicable.
- Support execution of MA-sponsored studies including outcomes research as applicable
- Lead training and/or training content for Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs), sales representatives and other relevant stakeholders as required.
- Understand access challenges in the country and how best to create value for the product with the efficacy and safety of the product.
- Accountable for oversight and execution of MA congress planning including collaboration across broader MA organization to ensure effective alignment and congress management for the Brand.
- Effectively lead MA launch excellence and serve as launch execution liaison between MA and Commercial.

- Lead operational planning/execution of MA advisory boards to understand and shape medical strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement a robust publications strategy. This includes identifying key research findings, selecting appropriate journals for submission, and ensuring timely execution of publication timelines.
- Sought out by internal stakeholders as an expert on general MA matters, including external medical insights, customer initiatives and mentoring/training of colleagues across the TA.
- Responsible for building agile Local Brand Team culture by:

- Making agile, fast and clear decision with the sense of urgency. If necessary and depending on topic, escalate to local MT or Global MA Brand Team.
- Breaking down silos to solve problems together as a team.
- Responsible for managing Local Brand Team budget
- Propose and oversee budget and resource allocation for the Brand
- Together with Commercial Co-Lead, executes on approved budget and resource allocation. If appropriate, decides on budget allocation changes (within guardrails).
- Responsible for Local Brand Team performance
- Role-model the transversal, co-creational and collaborative working model, sharing best practice across the business, to sustainably grow the team’s effectiveness.
- Responsible for performance evaluation on core Brand Team members, in cooperation with Functional Report-line Managers
- Create the environment to provide frequent feedback within Brand Team members
Essential Qualifications
- MD of preference, PhD in health-related science, or PharmD
- Minimum 7 years scientific/medical experience in research-based pharmaceutical industry in the areas of Medical Affairs and/or Medical Affairs & Development
- Minimum 3 years experience working in a leadership capacity incl. proven team management skills and regional matrix leadership
- Previous experience with products launches, specifically OOP mainstream products
- Demonstrates strong capabilities such as leadership & decision making, communication & collaboration, strategic thinking, technical expertise, problem solving & adaptability.
- Experience in collaborating with medical, clinical, regulatory, pharmacovigilance, health outcomes, medical information, commercial and other organizational partners to deliver results
- Strong Working knowledge of local Regulatory/Payer/HTA bodies, ICH GCP guidelines, Industry regulations, and quality standards
- Strong familiarity with biostatistical, clinical, health economics and outcomes research
- Strong business acumen, including knowledge of key financial metrics
- Omnichannel mindset with previous experience in working with multiple channels
- Ability to drive and manage change
- Strong scientific analytical and problem-solving skills, strategic capabilities, project management, planning and organization skills with excellent communication, writing and presentation skills
- Fluent in spoken and written business English
Preferred Qualifications
- MD
- Robust pharma experience and at least 7 years of background
- Experience in launching OOP with great competitiveness products
